Kiribako - Japanese Wooden Box

This traditional Japanese kiri (paulownia) wood box is designed for refined storage and presentation. Valued for its lightweight nature and ability to help buffer against changes in temperature and humidity. The box features an Inro-style nested lid, where the lid fits into the body for a clean, precise closure and a high-end appearance.

Made in Japan
Made in Ishikawa.

Construction
Imo joint (square butt joint), Inro (nested) lid, raised base with underside runners.

The base is built with a raised bottom and underside runners, which reduce direct contact with surfaces and minimize scuffs or grime on the bottom during storage.

Note
Because this is a precision-fit nested lid, please align the lid orientation before closing. If the lid is not aligned and is forced down, it may bind and could crack or chip. When closing, set the lid gently, confirm it sits evenly, and press down lightly without twisting or pushing at an angle. If you feel resistance, stop and realign.

As with all natural wood products, each piece has its own grain and subtle variation in tone and fit. Lid tightness may feel slightly different depending on ambient humidity; this is normal wood movement.

Dimension
Inner size: 7.87” × 9.06” × 3.15” (L × W × H)
Height breakdown: lid 0.98” / body 2.17”
Inner frame height: 2.40”

Care
Store away from direct sunlight, high heat, and extreme humidity. Wipe with a dry, soft cloth; avoid soaking or wet cleaning.
