How chacha maimai began

How chacha maimai began

Healing by reconnecting.

Hi there, I'm Yoshie. I'm no tea expert - as someone who grew up in Japan, tea was a part of our daily life. It was a gentle pause before heading out the door, or a way to relax and unwind after a long day.

Fast-forward to 2024 in California. My husband Kaichi and I had been deep in the hustle - typical tech-jobs, 10+ hour work days, constant screen time. That year, everything came to a stop. He burned out and left his startup job. I went through a traumatic loss of in my family and I was barely keeping it together.

In need of comfort and healing, I started reconnecting with my childhood and slowed down. We began deep diving into the Japanese culture through food and art, including the world of 茶道 (sado) - the way of tea.

To our surprise, the Japanese culture we had experienced growing up in the small rural Japanese town - simplicity, kindness, humility, respect, and appreciation - was the foundation of Sado. The more we studied, the more we healed, and the more we wanted to share the Japanese values and traditions with the world.

chacha maimai is simply our way of reconnecting with what matters to us. We hope that chacha maimai will bring you harmony to your daily life.
